I fell behind on the blogging again, so this will be quick. The introductory Parker novel follows him as he returns to New York seeking revenge on his former wife and former partner who betrayed him on a heist. I read the Darwyn Cooke adaptation some time ago, so skipped this in my first pass through the early Parker novels. Intended as a one-off, some of Parker’s characterizations are slightly different than they later became. He is more emotional here, it seems, and less careful about his fingerprints and such. Still a very good read.
