This is another set of pulp stories, though the second and longer one is actually from the slicks, the Saturday Evening Post in 1954. In the first, “Rodeo Killer,” from 1942, a ramrod helps prove a horse can be a winner and helps save the ranch through a rodeo competition. In the second, “Mission Creek,” an ambitious ranchman and his son go up against an equally ambitious ramrod with the ranch owned by the heroine in the balance. Both are well done, though don’t break new ground. Still fun to read.
