John D. MacDonald – Seven (1971)

Date Finished: May 26, 2016
TBR #45

A collection of stories, four of which first appeared in Playboy. The new ones here are the best and have some of MacDonald’s profession expertise. Others though seem a bit too dated with ’70s era free love shtick allowing middle aged business dudes to get some action. Not really mysteries but more character studies with some twist endings. The best, I think, is “The Willow Pool,” which tells a story from multiple viewpoints. It probably wouldn’t be much of story without this gimmick, but I’m always a sucker for it.
