Brandon Bird – Death in Four Colors (1950)

TBR #43

Brandon Bird was a pseudonym for George Bird Evans  and his wife Kay. The detective couple is a thinly drawn version of themselves with a setting of a magazine publishing company and a dead art director, as pictured on the cover. Though they are insulted in the story, I think we’ll count art directors as artists, however slight. George Bird later was involved in upland shooting books and setter breeds, both of which get attention here. The Greenwich Village and their very nice apartment are also to be envied. The mystery is strong and the book is very enjoyable.
