Talmage Powell – The Girl’s Number Doesn’t Answer (1960)

Vintage Silver Age Mystery
Scavenger Hunt Category: Object of Any Other Color
Date Finished: May 7, 2016

The second appearance of a somewhat battered Ed Rivers, Tampa private eye, has him investigating the murder of a Japanese family. The police have charged Rivers’ friend, an obviously PTSD-suffering World War II vet and next door neighbor to the Japanese family. Rivers believes that the murder was related to the fast-living son of the older couple and investigates accordingly. This one suffers from a lack of possible suspects and isn’t too difficult to solve, which just makes it adequate in my book.

Unfortunately, I already used telephone at some point, as well as a blonde, so we’ll go with an object of any other color, in this case being the black telephone.
