TBR #28

DeathComesastheEndPocket4657An Egyptian gentry class family is faced with the mysterious death of a new concubine attached to the head of the household, followed by other family members. There are some of the usual Christie twists but this is more of a study of family dynamics, along with a moderate amount of Egyptology, rather than a complexly plotted mystery. At first I thought the Egyptian names and setting would be difficult to get absorbed in, but even in lesser works, Christie is a master.

I had two copies of this novel on the shelves. The Cardinal one has the bottle of poison, so we’ll go with that one.
