John Creighton – The Blonde Cried Murder (1961)

Creighton-BlondeCriedMurder

Vintage Silver Age Mystery
Scavenger Hunt Category: Blonde
Date Finished: April 8, 2016

Yellow is for gold, blondes…and cowards!

Half of Ace Double F-115, this is a fairly straightforward private eye type mystery. Ed Donovan’s wife has left him and her new husband is causing all the businesses to drop his agency. Since he only handles business accounts, this leaves him up against it and looking for help in a bottle. In walks a wife whose husband has disappeared while facing an embezzlement charge. Donovan reluctantly takes the case and starts doggedly tracking the missing man. He runs into a number of difficulties as other parties are very interested in finding the missing money. Nothing very groundbreaking here, but solid and quick. Creighton was a pen name for Joseph L. Chadwick, who wrote a number of westerns as well.
