The main novella in this collection, Killer on the Turnpike, was made into a TV episode in 1964 called Nightmare in Chicago, aka Once Upon a Savage Night. The novella is set in the New York City vicinity, however. The novella, originally published in the Saturday Evening Post, moves along very quickly. A few characters are developed, but not to the degree they could have been in a longer work. The suspense also could have been enlarged upon. The other stories in this volume also are good, though not as memorable.
