I got slowed down a bit on this one, but still found it enjoyable. Whit Masterson was the pseudonym of Robert Wade and Bill Miller, who also used the pseudonym Wade Miller. They are best known for Badge of Evil, in large part due to the film Touch of Evil, but this is another strong effort. Written shortly before Miller’s death in 1961, this tells the story of a kidnapping of the son of a singer and a movie star. The mystery itself isn’t that complicated and is solved by the lead character several chapters before the end. That character’s growth in inner strength and resolve is the bigger focus.
