A good, twisty, Christie mystery, considered by many to be among her best, suffers only from some obvious mistakes by the protagonist. Of course, if he hadn’t overlooked those things, the plot would have suffered, nevertheless it is distracting when characters miss the obvious. In this case, the hero is supposed to watch over a young child, then doesn’t, putting his feeling of danger down to his imagination, EVEN THOUGH THERE HAS ALREADY BEEN A MURDER! If there has already been a murder, and you are a character in an Agatha Christie novel, you should pay attention to your suspicions.
