Agatha Christie – Peril at End House (1932)

Golden Age
Category: Birth Year of Loved One
Date Finished: January 25, 2015

While Poirot, and especially Hastings, are a bit unbelievable, the humor of Christie is a welcome relief after Marsh and Alleyn. In this one, Poirot and Hastings investigate murder attempts directed toward a young woman who owns End House, supposedly set in Cornwall. Christie was from Torquay in neighboring Devon. In that my mom’s mother’s family comes from Exeter and Crediton, this was an appropriate one to choose from the year of her birth. I’m not sure why it has taken me so many years to finish these Poirots. I think my first Christie was a Miss Marple and that put me off them for a long time. Plus they are so mainstream that one assumes they are mediocre.
