Ngaio Marsh – Death in a White Tie (1938)

Golden Age
Category: Color in the Title
Finished: January 19, 2015

Took a bit to get in to this Marsh mystery, as the society concerns were annoying. The mystery wasn’t challenging and the characters were not engaging. As golden age detectives go, let alone modern ones, Alleyn is rather bland and earnest. Whereas Campion’s high society connections are treated with humor, they are not with Alleyn. I have enjoyed other Marsh mysteries, especially those set in the theater.
